The brachial plexus is a network of nerves formed by the anterior rami of the lower four cervical nerves (C5-C8) and the first thoracic nerve (T1), supplying sensory and motor innervation to the upper limb. It originates in the neck, passes through the axilla, and branches to control the shoulder, arm, and hand.

To remember the main sections of the brachial plexus (Roots, Trunks, Divisions, Cords, Branches), a common mnemonic is "Randy Travis Drinks Cold Beer" or "Read The Damn Cadaver Book." For the terminal branches of the brachial plexus (Musculocutaneous, Axillary, Radial, Median, Ulnar), use the mnemonic "MARMU" or "My Aunt Raped My Uncle." For the root subdivisions of the brachial plexus, try "Rad Techs Drink Cold Beer" or "Rugby Teams Drink Cold Beers."

The brachial plexus is a major network of nerves originating from the spinal nerves C5 through T1. It passes from the neck into the armpit (axilla) and provides all sensory and motor innervation to the upper limb, from the shoulder to the hand.

Mnemonics for Recall

For the Sections (in order):
Roots, Trunks, Divisions, Cords, Branches
Mnemonic:Read The Damn Cadaver Book

For the Five Terminal Branches:
Musculocutaneous, Axillary, Radial, Median, Ulnar
Mnemonic:MARMU (an acronym)

For the Nerve Roots (C5-T1):
Mnemonic:Rugby Teams Drink Cold Beers
