Hey guys! I’ve been focusing on the reverse double half hitch knot for the last couple of weeks. Today I have one more intermediate/advanced for you that will show you how to create a multi-coloured design.
Before we get started I quickly want to remind you that I wrote a book and it is available for pre-order now! My book, entitled, Mixed Fiber Macrame, takes a new spin on macrame teaching you how to work with various fibers including ribbon, raffia, wool roving, bamboo and more! My book contains 24 projects with step by step photos and instructions ranging from macrame wall baskets, macraweaves, pillows, a rug, a chandelier, and more!
This book will be available worldwide on November 24th but pre-order is available now through a number of retailers - I’ve added all the links in the description for you!
All pre-orders will receive a bonus project!! Please email me your proof of purchase at [email protected] and I will send the pdf of the bonus project directly to you.

Thanks again so much for your support! Okay let’s get started on today’s tutorial.
Set-up - Cut 2 pieces of 3mm burgundy string, 2 pieces of speckled navy string, and 3 pieces of mustard string. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using a Lark’s Head knot. This pattern creates a diamond that is 3 inches wide and just over 3 inches in length.
To complete this pattern we will tie a total of 13 rows of reverse double half hitch knots. Alternate between tying rows of 6 then 7 reverse double half hitch knots as you complete this pattern. Pay close attention to which cord I am using as my working cord and which cord that I am using as my filler cord - this determines what colour cord is visible from the front of your work.
I’ve included a pattern in the description which identifies the working cord colours moving left to right for each row.
Y = Yellow, R = Burgundy, B = Blue
Pattern:
Row 1: Y, Y, Y, Y, Y, Y
Row 2: Y, R, Y, B, Y, R, Y
Row 3: R, Y, B, B, Y, R
Row 4: Y, Y, B, Y, B, Y, Y
Row 5: Y, B, Y, Y, B, Y
