Whitesnake - Now You're Gone (Guitar Cover)

This has been one of the most enjoyable covers I've ever had to learn. A personal favourite of mine ever since I left my old iPod Mini play on shuffle and it came on randomly and I fell in love with it immediately. I always had it in my head to do but always felt it would be a nightmare to decipher with all the riff fill variations that Steve Vai would do. However, after going out jogging a couple of times with it on repeat to ingrain it in my head, I had so much fun trying to pick out all the different parts. Even getting joy from being as pedantic as thinking 'I hear an open string here, I therefore need to completely change the way I play that riff to incorporate it' haha.

Recording it and getting it all together was a challenge but again I think I find it fun when there's always something going on to keep you on your toes. I certainly think there's a few notes here and there I have either missed or don't quite play the same way as Steve would, however, this is the best way for my style I feel. The solo shape for the tapping part took forever to find a comfortable way and after a few sessions of sticking the YouTube video on 50% playback speed, I got into the groove of how I think it goes.

I use a Jackson Dk2 Dinky (I took out the tone knob and moved the volume over), into a Boss Me50 for all my tones, into a Palmer Pdi-09 speaker sim (to simulate an amp), into a Focusrite Scarlet interface, into Logic Pro X where I mix it with the track using some reverb and EQ.
