In September of 2020, a team of 20 scientists boarded the R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer in San Francisco, California, and embarked on a 14-week voyage to Antarctica. During the expedition, they sampled and studied marine invertebrates living in one of the most remote but fastest-changing seas on the planet. The team explored the biodiversity, evolution, and biogeographic patterns of animals living in the Weddel Sea and Bransfield Strait. This seminar focuses on the team's research goals, their experiences onboard the ship, and the intricacies, challenges, and fun of doing science in the southern ocean.
