The dialogue in this stage implies you can sneak around but I'm fairly sure it's impossible because if you try to rush Masayuki spots you and if you wait then a major will just run into you. But you can still do the strategy and halt the Takeda calvary's movement, so then it's just mopping them up and preventing the enemy majors from reaching Ieyasu.

Tokugawa stages are higher difficulty than normal stages, making it that much harder. Which doesn't help when you're playing the character with the worst defense in the game.
