🐟Species description:
Black-spined Herring
Fish of the herring family. Distributed in the Caspian Sea basin. It feeds on small crustaceans and insect larvae. Black-spined herring have high bodies that are compressed from the sides. The body is shortened in the tail area and the wedge-shaped head with large eyes has weakly developed teeth. The length of an adult fish can reach 35 cm, and weight - more than 400g.

Kessler's Herring
This is an anadromous type of fish. Its habitat is the Caspian Sea Basin. Its diet is crustaceans, insect larvae, as well as young fish. It has a bumpy body, a belly with a pronounced keel from the throat to the beginning of the anal fin, and a rather large, broad head with well-developed teeth. The upper part of the head and pectoral fins are dark-coloured. It can reach up to 50 cm in length and weigh up to 2 kg

Shemaya
Also known as Chalcalburnus Belvica. This is a semi-anadromous type of fish. It is found in the basins of the Black, Caspian and Aral Seas. In rivers, it prefers locations with fast currents. It feeds on insects, molluscs, pelagic caviar, larvae and young fish. Shemaya has a tall and thin body and a small head. The back is olive-brown, the sides and belly are silvery. The length of an adult Shemaya reaches 32 cm and can weigh up to 390 grams.
