The events of George Floyd woke me up.

I acknowledge that it should not have not taken such an extreme injustice in the year 2020 to wake me up. Countless brutal acts and injustices have pervaded for my entire life, and before my time, and on and on.

As a performer and an artist, and also as a human being, I made a public promise (Instagram) to do something every day to help break the cycle of racism ingrained in our system and in the "American" way of life. This has taken a variety of forms...

Educating myself
Donating to worthy causes
Telling others what I'm doing
Not dodging the topic of "race" and "racism" as taboo or uncomfortable to speak of
Not accepting the notion, "I don't know what to do"
Finding action steps that I can take in areas that I have influence
Remaining curious, open, and humble
Continuing to add to this list

One area where I have influence is in my non-singer-songwriter work, as a consultant in the web/internet industry. It is in this arena that I am aiming this effort.

I am looking to network with people of color in the web/internet industry for the purpose of a.) helping to connect people of color to projects, jobs, mentors, resources b.) welcoming the wonderful opportunity to meet new people!
