Ashley and Jimmy are back together, but it doesn’t feel quite the same. Ash may not look the same as last year – she’s a Goth now – but Jimmy’s sure she’s still the same golden girl inside. For her part, Ash is convinced that this time around, Jimmy and she have a more meaningful relationship - their souls connect.

But it quickly becomes obvious to Ashley that Jimmy isn’t really comfortable with the “new Ash”. So she tries to suppress her own doubts and makes change just to please him. In the meantime, Craig, her drama partner for a scene from “Taming of the Shrew”, seems to understand her better. They find they both feel the same way about the play’s underlying message: it’s not acceptable to them that someone should try to ‘tame’ the one they love.

When it comes time to perform the scene, Jimmy and his partner Hazel put the class in stitches while Craig’s and Ashley’s dark interpretation leaves everyone stunned. Afterwards, it’s painful to admit but the romance is clearly over – but there’s hope their friendship will continue.

After Mr. Armstrong’s lecture on sexual responsibility and birth control in health class, JT is all for being prepared. Toby’s hesitant – he and Kendra are nowhere near that stage in their relationship. But JT convinces Toby that they need to buy condoms now - to be ready for when the big day arrives. At the drugstore, the boys stock up, but Toby is unsuccessful in hiding his stash at home, so he brings it to school. Kendra’s older brother, Spinner, discovers the condoms and soon Toby’s on the run from him and Kendra. In the end, it’s instigator JT who learns more about condoms than he wants to.
