Trekking in Upper and Lower Dolpo - Fieldwork in Shey Phoksundo National Park

I spent 5 weeks trekking Upper and Lower Dolpo in Shey Phoksundo National Park, Nepal. This trip was part of my masters degree fieldwork to work with communities to collect data on snow leopard human conflict. Timing was May and June of 2022. I had never trekked in Nepal or at altitude before. Dolpo is such an incredible place for anyone looking to experience Nepal off the typical tourist path.

Our route included Pungmo, Ringmo (Phoksundo Lake), Dho Tarap, Saldang, Lhuri, and Shey. 5 high passes over 5000 m. The main villages are timstampped below:
