Neurosurgeon Dr Robert Spetzler leaves 28-year-old Brett Kehrer clinically dead for an hour as he puts him in a stage of `suspended animation', which works by removing the patient's blood and cooling it to just 15 degrees - even though 27 is usually fatal.
