Meet our WSAcademy Members: Michael J McEvoy

Welcome Michael J McEvoy! It’s his first year as a member of the WSA and we are hoping to have him with us for many years to come.
Michael J McEvoy is an award-winning American screen and jazz composer who scored Richard Linklater’s ‘Me and Orson Welles’, ‘Finding Your Feet’ (starring Imelda Staunton and Timothy Spall) and the Peabody Award-winning documentary ‘The Jazz Ambassadors’. Besides composing for screen, he has worked as a songwriter with pop music legends including Ian Dury, Soul II Soul and Steve Winwood. McEvoy is also an extremely talented improvisational multi-instrumentalist and jazz performer who has received praise for albums such as ‘The Long Way Home’, featuring a stellar line-up of British jazz stars. He even performed live in the studio with legendary artists such as Sting, The Bee Gees and Mark Morrison. In lockdown he kept himself busy by writing a score for Showtime documentary ‘Citizen Bio’ together with Paul Oakenfold. Recently, he collaborated with the scoring team Zero VU on the 6-part HBO comedy-drama ‘Tuff Money’. The independent feature ‘The Drifters’, which he scored, is set for an April release.
