The Antonov AN-225 Mriya is the world's largest plane, taking off with a weight of up to 700 tons. The plane was designed by the Soviets to transport the Buran space shuttle to its final launching site in Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, but after the Buran's launch the Mriya was sent to storage until in 2001 Antonov airlines repurposed it as the world's largest cargo plane. Sadly the plane was destroyed in Kyiv as a result of the Russian invasion.
