Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's son Uday made a rare public appearance in Baghdad on Friday (22/05), attending a football match at the Al-Sha'ab stadium. Uday, who is chairman of the Iraqi National Olympics Committee, was believed to have attended the match to show that he is still mobile. He has made very few public appearances since an assassination attempt last year in Baghdad when he was severely wounded by unidentified gunmen who riddled his car with bullets. There was speculation that Uday would never walk again. The match he attended was between two police clubs to decide Iraq's league championship. It ended in a draw.
