BLM donations plummet 88% following spending controversies

The controversial spending of donations made to Black Lives Matter is once again being revealed as another tax year has passed. Despite donations plummeting by 88% in 2022, the nonprofit’s cashflow is still being funneled to friends and family of its now former executive director in seven-figure contracts.

According to tax records first obtained by the Free Beacon, in fiscal year 2022, the Black Lives Matter Foundation raised $9.3 million. The year prior, it raised more than $75 million, indicating that donations plummeted by 88%. In fiscal year 2020, Black Lives Matter raised $90 million in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

That’s a lot of money given to the organization that states on its website donations will help fuel BLM’s movement to liberate Black people. But tax records depicting where the donations went angered supporters when they learned how their money was being spent by those at the top of the foundation
