Israel’s government is holding a live press briefing hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of his Gaza ceasefire deal, in what could mark the most significant diplomatic breakthrough since the war began.

Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian is addressing reporters from Tel Aviv as the Cabinet meets to formally approve the Trump-brokered framework, which includes the release of hostages and prisoners, withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza, and the entry of humanitarian aid.

Hamas has confirmed the deal in principle, though a final prisoner list is still awaited. U.S. officials say all remaining Israeli hostages will be released by Monday, pending Israel’s formal sign-off tonight.

The White House, Egypt, and Qatar coordinated the intense mediation effort. If approved, the deal would mark Trump’s first major foreign policy breakthrough since returning to office.
