How will engineers of the future, both as a profession and a discipline, need to adapt in light of climate change?

This online collaborative event, jointly organised by Engineers Australia, WA Division, and the UWA Public Policy Institute, on 30 July, 2020 will bring together engineering professionals and researchers to explore the challenges presented by climate change and the likely impacts on engineering standards, training and policy.

Professor Anas Ghadouani will present both short and long-term projected climate conditions for Western Australia, followed by a discussion of our panel of experts who will further explore the challenges to be considered during the lifespan of engineering projects. The parallels with other professions and disciplines will also be explored, as well as what engineers can do to ensure that their skills and purpose remain relevant to climate change-driven problems.

Through the Q&A session, participants will have the chance to inform this important debate, which will be continued in future events on climate change and the engineering profession to be organised by Engineers Australia.
