Описание к видео Excerpt from Op.22 (Webern) - Sandler/Woods Quintet

The Sandler/Woods Quintet performing Julian Woods's arrangement of an excerpt from Anton Webern's Opus 22 "Quartet" live at Milton Court Concert Hall on 14/11/23 as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Guildhall School of Music postgraduate students Benjy Sandler and Julian Woods have been united by their interest in the work of the great American improviser Henry Threadgill and his innovative use of atonality and counterpoint within groove-based improvised music. Bringing together a inter-generational group featuring some of the UK's finest improvising musicians, the Sandler/Woods Quintet made its performance debut on the 14th November 2023 at Milton Court Concert Hall as part of the London Jazz Festival. The band explores music by Threadgill's celebrated band Zooid; interpretations of music by 20th century serial composer Anton Webern; as well as their own original compositions, which favour chromaticism and counterpoint, while leaving plenty of space for improvisation.
