Hey guys!

It's Harlequin. I wanted to share a special training day I had with club juggling and Rook, the Giant Unicycle. It was just one of those days where I unlocked a flow state and did some great work.

More importantly, I felt satisfied and fulfilled. (Can be a rare feeling when you're always chasing improvement.)

It was a day for remembering that we don't always need to be setting higher expectations or striving for the next skill.

Sometimes, you need to take a step back and work with what you know well. Here, we can incorporate flare, character, and consider theatrical devices like TEMPO and DURATION to get in touch with our inner storyteller.

It's easy as circus artists to get tunnel-visioned into going from trick to trick to trick to trick. But character moments and movements that remind the audience that you are human, and vulnerable add A LOT.

I don't necessarily employ character or story too much during this, but I was a bit more expressive than usual—especially for casual training—so it felt good.
