Sir Keir Starmer has begun a ministerial reshuffle in the wake of Angela Rayner’s stunning resignation over her failure to pay enough stamp duty on a seaside flat.

The Prime Minister was wasting no time shaking up his political pack his deputy quit from Government following the verdict from his ethics adviser that she had breached the ministerial code

Sir Laurie Magnus said the outgoing deputy prime minister had “acted with integrity”, but failed to “heed the caution” contained within legal advice she received when buying the £800,000 property in Hove.

Ms Rayner had referred herself to the standards watchdog for investigation after she admitted she had paid £40,000 less surcharge than she should have done on the purchase in May.
