The Maharees is a Tombolo located on the Northern side of the Dingle Peninsula and creates the sweep of Brandon Bay. It is designated as Special Area of Conservation. The landscape and wildlife is under threat from coastal erosion and anthropogenic factors such as quad bikes on the sand dunes and trampling of sand dunes. The Maharees Conservation Association is a community based volunteer organisation who work with dune regeneration, beach clean ups and promoting the Maharees as a special area for everyone to enjoy.
