Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov addressed Trump's Greenland ambitions, drawing a direct parallel to Crimea: "Put the people of Crimea in place of the Greenlandic people, and much will become clear. Crimea is no less important for Russia's security than Greenland is for the United States."
Lavrov denied any Russian or Chinese plans to seize Greenland, stating Washington "perfectly knows about the absence of such plans." He quoted Croatian President Milanovic: "The decision about Greenland's future can only be made by the Greenlandic people."
On NATO and Europe, Lavrov declared: "NATO is in a deep crisis, the European Union is in a deep crisis. I don't know what will become of NATO after the Greenland situation."
Regarding European leaders seeking dialogue with Russia, Lavrov advised: "For those who wish to talk to us seriously, I advise not to speak about it loudly. If there is serious interest, just call, as diplomats do."
