Castle of Illusion - The 8 Bit Version!

In 1991, Sega released an 8-bit version of Castle of Illusion. It wasn't the same game that we had seen before on the Sega Genesis. Let's take a look and see what it was all about.

Episode Notes:

1. While not a long game, this will still take you a good hour to beat the first time. It's about as long as the Genesis version.

2. The Game Gear and SMS versions are nearly identical in content. You are missing nothing but choosing one over the other.

3. This game has not been reissued on any other hardware to date.

4. There was an updated remake of Castle of Illusion for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It has new graphics, new stage designs, and is mainly a 2.5D platformer. It wasn't bad.

5. I got my Game Gear from Japan a few months after its launch there. This was my favorite game for quite awhile. The GG Shinobi was awesome too.

6. The Genesis version was also released for the Sega Saturn in the Sega Ages line.
