Tasmania - A inspirational 4wd travel documentary about the West Coast of Australia's Apple island. Once more we discover the uniquely beautiful and often hard to reach places Tasmania has to offer. With our 4wd we are exploring the more challenging offroad tracks and locations not readily available to most people. Completely self-sufficient we were overlanding and camping at some magic spots.
In part three of our off road adventure we The next morning we were greeted by a gorgeous sunrise and we proceeded north back up the beach, made our way back through Zeehan and up to the spectacular Montezuma Falls .
From Montezuma, we existed via the notorious (classified extreme) Ring River Road and headed north east, cross country via Table Mountain where we stopped at Lake Cethana Dam to enjoy the views and a nice little break before heading on again.
After a brief stop in Launceston we made our way up into the Ben Lomond National Park and drove the amazing Jacobs Ladder. This ancient landscape formed by glacial activity is truly a sight to behold.
From here we continued traveling north and back onto the coast arriving at Bridport. Entering the beach and dune systems we travelled toward Bellingham through the Double Sandy Point Conservation Area. We spend a couple of days relaxing and enjoying the beach before heading back to Devonport to conclude our trip.

Tasmania 4wd – Montezuma Falls Track – This is a Medium grade, 14.5 km track running along the cutting from the original N E Dundas Tramway. Due to this fact it is mostly flat or has a gentle gradient other than a few creek crossings such as Kapi and the Great Northern Creek where the timber bridges are no longer in place and the track drops down through the creek lines. This track is very muddy with allot of standing water however it is mostly firm based and wont present to many issues to any dual range 4wd with all terrain or mud tyres. Note – this track is narrow with minimal spaces to pass oncoming vehicles

Tasmania 4x4 – Ring River Road – Approximately 12kms in length this is a Hard grade track consisting of deep mud, potentially dangerous river crossings, steep slippery slopes and large rock steps. This track is weather dependant and only suitable for experienced drivers with well-prepared vehicles. It is also advisable to travel with at least two other vehicles for safety. Note – this track is far more easily traversed from the Montezuma Falls Track back down to the Murchison Hwy rather than the other way around

Tasmania 4wd – Jacobs Ladder – Situated in the Ben Lomond national Park 50kms South East of Launceston the road from the boundary of the National park to the ski village at the top is approximately 10km’s long and climbs to an altitude of 1400mtrs. Between June and September, snow chains must be carried and the road may be closed at short notice due to snow and ice. The road is currently being upgraded and a 30km/h speed limit is being enforced.

Tasmania 4wd – St Albans Bay – Also known as the Bridport to Bellingham Traverse. This track, approximately 22km’s long and rated hard, offers stunning coastal views, beach and dune driving with several fairly well-sheltered campsites along the way within the dune areas
