Breaking Down the Stick Episode 5: Victrix Pro FS

I dive deep into the Victrix Pro FS and reveal the inner-workings, point out some mod points, and offer my opinions on what you can and should do to upgrade this fight stick. If you are curious about the latency or the more commonly, and improperly used term "lag", I didn't test that. There are a variety of reasons, but the most important is there isn't a widely accepted method of doing it consistently and accurately. There are a couple efforts that will provide empirical data regarding response time of the system and I am following them closely for future episodes and tests. Someone put this up against the Brook Universal Fighting Board and found it is slower than the UFB in a head to head common button match.

Without further ado, here are my basic findings and grades:

Basic Modding: B- / C

You can easily change the buttons, but the unique balltop and Link 2 setup isn't friendly to standard balltops and the mounting points for the lever significantly limits your ability to swap levers.

Basic modding is considered: Lever swap, Button Swap

Advanced Modding: D

The single PCB is easy to get to, but the custom functionalities required to maintain all functions of the fight stick would be lost without significant time, effort, and coding for a very specialized solution.

Advanced Modding is considered: Adding pad-hacks, various fighting board upgrades, or LEDs.

Panel swaps: Not possible. Seriously, you can't change the layout of this fight stick at all.

Be sure to subscribe and watch future episodes of BTDS. This video recordeded on a Lumix GH4 with H6 Zoom Mic.

This Fight Stick is not yet released, however, it will launch at $350 and will only work on PS4.
