If you can’t tell my big smiley face… I’m HAPPY to be back in convoy with my good friends Mandy and Rolly, who I met through the MDC Owners Group back when we travelled out to Birdsville.

I had no idea when I started out on this adventure that I would meet such friendly, kind, generous people that I know will be lifelong friends. But that is the characteristics of most people that camp isn’t it!

So here is our first night on the outskirts of Laura. There’s a funny story of how we randomly met on the road when my Anderson plug connection was dragging along the ground and they pulled up behind me and of course… Rolly was able to fix it for me!

We travelled the next day to Coen, taking in the old Laura homestead, my first experience of Cape York corrugations, red dirt, stopped by a billabong for lunch, termite mounds, Musgrave Roadhouse, and then finally camping behind the ‘Sexchange’ Hotel in Coen.

I’m officially in love with Cape York!
