"A BRIEF DESCRIPTION ABOUT SUPREETAM"
SUPREETAM one of Odisha's premier cultural organizations, was founded by
Guru Prafulla Chandra Behera in 2008 at D.P. Pur, Jaleswar, Baleswar. Since its
inception, SUPREETAM has been dedicated to promoting Dance, Music, Art and
engaging in social work across the country.
In 2010, SUPREETAM launched the Subarnarekha Dance Festival, which took
place on June 13th and 14th June in an underdeveloped rural village. This festival was
created to raise awareness about India's rich cultural heritage on both national and
international platforms. The event showcases a wide variety of performances,
including classical dance, Chhau dance, Gotipua dance, sand art, tribal dance and
traditional games like Puchikhela, Kabaddi. Around 170 artists from various states
are participated and sharing their art and culture. The festival aims to embrace more
artists within its cultural fold, promoting international cultural harmony and amity.
Starting next year, we plan to incorporate international performing groups into our
festival, further elevating it to the status of an international event. The institution's
core mission is to preserve and promote the rich traditions of Odisha’s folk culture,
while also encouraging talented dancers and musicians including those who are
physically challenged in their respective fields.
In every sense, SUPREETAM can be considered a harbinger of cultural revival and
a true representation of the artistic spirit of Baleswar, Odisha. Since 2010, we have
consistently organized annual festivals. Additionally, we aim to provide vocational
training in skills such as pottery, carpentry and sewing to students who have passed
the 8th and 10th grades. These efforts align with our broader objective of promoting
and propagating cultural values.
However, we continue to face financial challenges and other hurdles in organizing
high-standard festivals with our limited resources and private initiatives. Despite
these difficulties, with the goodwill and unwavering support of art lovers, well
wishers and the artistic community, we have managed to sustain this vast cultural
endeavor.
Publicity for the festival is conducted through various media outlets, including
invitation cards, banners, hoardings, film slides, social media platforms like
Facebook and YouTube, websites and email campaigns.
On Children’s Day, November 14th, we organize cultural programs featuring
participation from students of various schools. Competitions such as fancy dress,
essay writing, debates and singing and dancing are held during the day, with sweets
and prizes distributed among the participants. Other national events like
Independence Day, Teacher’s Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja and
Odia New Year (Naba Barsa) are celebrated with grandeur.
Regular meetings are held between guardians and institution members to discuss
how students can improve in Performing Art and dance. Most of the guardians
actively participate and assure us that they will support their children's artistic
growth. In addition to these activities, SUPREETAM’s students and dancers have
performed at prestigious events organized by the Department of Culture,
Government of Odisha, as well as at programs hosted by private companies, schools,
colleges, street plays and health awareness programs.
SOCIAL WORK
During the COVID-19 pandemic, SUPREETAM distributed 50,000 masks and
15,000 bottles of hand sanitizer in the rural areas of Baleswar district. We also
provided dry food, water bottles, soap, N-95 face masks, hand gloves and hand
sanitizer to frontline COVID warriors. All video available in YouTube,

In 2022, SUPREETAM celebrated the New Year with a social awareness program
focusing on reducing the use of polythene and plastic, encouraging a plastic-free
