The Christmas Holiday season in Bloomington, Indiana gets started the Friday after Thanksgiving with the lighting of the Monroe County Courthouse Square Canopy of Lights. Since being revived in 1985 this holiday tradition has been held every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving. In addition to the Canopy of Lights provided by Monroe County, the downtown lighting ceremony also includes lights framing the buildings on the square and thousands of sparkling lights in the trees provided by CFC, Inc.since 1987.
