On 18 March 1996, John Lydon (Johnny Rotten), Glen Matlock, Steve Jones, and Paul Cook - otherwise known as the founding line-up of iconic punk band The Sex Pistols - held a press conference at the 100 Club in London in announce their Filthy Lucre reunion tour. Over the course of 25 minutes, Lydon and his bandmates gave derisive, expletive-riddled answers to questions on a range of subjects including why they had reunited, how much money they expected to make, the relationship between the band's members, and the state of British culture and society in the years since the Sex Pistols broke up. Lydon deployed his arsenal of profanity against a list of subjects including former Pistols manager Malcolm Maclaren; Lydon's late bandmate Sid Vicious; The Clash; Oasis; Green Day; the Scottish; the Irish; the Middle Class; Diana, Princess of Wales; Sarah, Duchess of York, and just about every journalist and photographer who drew his attention.
