God will not reward us, since we receive our reward from men and their accolades. But if we give in secret? Men not knowing what we do? Jesus said "Don't give, fast or pray to be seen of men".
If you do your heart's wrong, and your "good deeds" are sin.
It's good to do right, both in and out of season.
But it's worthless when done for a prideful, wrong reason.
When you give to the needy, let it be unseen.
Don’t trumpet your deeds or make them a scene.
Let your giving be secret, that’s how love is shown.
Only God's eyes watching, and to no one else known.
No applause to be heard, no award you can save.
Let your left hand not know what your right hand just gave.

But giving in secret brings praise to God's name.
