Bengali actor Rabi Ghosh on director "Manik Da" or Satyajit Ray

Описание к видео Bengali actor Rabi Ghosh on director "Manik Da" or Satyajit Ray

Famous actor Rabi Ghosh says that he has been working with Manik da as in Satyajit Ray and not Manik Bandopadhayay since 1960. When asked to describe his working relationship with him he says,"You see , I came from the stage. Still I am on the stage. My first experience with Satyajit Ray "abhijaan". So naturally it was highly fascinating. At that time used to study lot about the western films not Indian films and in fact, I found in Manik da a definite differentiation between the stage acting and the film acting. I don't know he showed me the kind of mannerisms and the subtleties in film acting especially what you do , a little bigger form on the stage. When said you know you do it in a much lesser way and first time I came to know that he believes in improvisation from impromptu actions. This kind of thing is highly fascinating for me.

On being asked that how did he direct , did he give a chance to develop a character, did he make everything so perfect for him that he just had to mimic him he replied saying,"Well I don't know as for Manik da what I have experienced that he is not only theoretical director, You know to my opinion he is one of the best actor also because whatever he wants to take out from you he will show you by acting and in fact what he shows we do it or we just express it
almost fifty percent of it and in fact Manik da shows everything to the actor and actresses by his way of acting and that I think one of the best way of acting in film."

Rabi Ghosh was born on November 24, 1931 in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India as Rabi Ghosh Dostidar.
