Описание к видео The Ace (Coroplast 'Stick' Style Scratchbuild)

The above was a project I recently undertook. I love smaller airplanes, and I had a whole lot of spare parts laying around. I aimed for this plane to look a bit like a 'Stik', however I don't really like the tail on most 'Stik' style planes, so I just went the the typical looking tail.

I built this plane out of Coroplast for several reasons. The first one being that it was free from one of the local members of parliament, since there were elections recently held. The second reason being that I usually fly in the mornings, with wet grass, and foamboard gets wet. I understand the tape or paint could solve this, but there are some other things that put me off foamboard, such as warping, and that where I am (New Zealand) it is very hard to get. I also find Coroplast to be much stronger, and easier to work with.

The build was very short. It had a total of 18 peices, a four peice body, tail section, and wing. The motor mount is just a few layers thick of Coroplast, with plywood screwed into that. I used hotglue for everything pretty much, except on the body, in which I used PVC tape.

The wing of the plane is on Version three, the first a completely flat wing, the second with a tiny bit of an aerofoil. However both of these didn't work very well. The third version is a full Aerofoil, which worked so much better. Coroplast is a bit heavier, so a wing with more lift is really helpful.

It seems to fly really well now, with a proper aerofoil. It was simple to build, and to me, really fun and relaxing to fly. I will continue to build with Coroplast on my other builds, as this one works so well. I encourage other people to give it a go, you will not be disapointed.
