▬▬▬▬ Video Transcript ▬▬▬▬
Hey everyone, it's Matt. In this video, I'm going to show you how to change a data source in Looker Studio.
I’m currently in the backend of one of my projects, and I’ll walk you through the steps to make this process straightforward. First, I’m going to switch to page two of my project.
Let’s say I have a scorecard displaying some Google Analytics data, and I want to change the data source for this scorecard. If you're not familiar, a scorecard is a way to visualize metrics on your dashboard.
To change the data source, I start by clicking on the scorecard. By default, you should see the setup options.
If you’re in the style tab, just switch over to the setup tab. Here, you’ll see the current data source, which in my case is labeled as "creative learners" pulling in Google Analytics data.
If I want to change this data source, I simply click on it. This will bring up a list of all the data sources currently available in my account, including any blended data sources I might have created.
From this list, I can select any data source I want to use instead. Additionally, if you want to add a new data source that isn’t already in your account, you can do that too.
You’ll have a variety of options to choose from, like Google Analytics, BigQuery, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and more. Just click on the one you want to use, and follow the prompts to set it up.
For instance, if I choose Google Analytics, I can select a different property, which could be a different website or app. The same applies if I want to connect Google Sheets.
If it’s not already linked, you’ll need to click authorize to allow Google Sheets to communicate with Looker Studio. This step is crucial for pulling in data from your sheets.
So, that’s basically how you change a data source in Looker Studio. Once you’re in the setup tab, it’s pretty easy to switch out or add data sources.
I hope you found this video helpful! If you did, please give it a like and subscribe for more content like this.
