The preposition "to" has a very long history in English. In fact, it's been part of the language through Middle English and all the way back to Old English! Because of this, this preposition is very important core part of the English language. It might seem simple on the surface, but it's one of the key prepositions that you need to really start feeling the personality of the English language.

This lesson looks at the first four groups of meaning (out of seven total). This lesson is extremely important because it will give a solid base that will help you to start to feel and more deeply understand this preposition.

The logic of the preposition "to" is "an end point". It's that simple! Or is it? Why do we say "to do" for the infinitive (dictionary) form? Why not just "do"? Doesn't that seem strange TO you?
