Grammy-winning country songwriter Brett James has DIED in a small plane crash in Franklin, North Carolina. Authorities CONFIRM that James, 57, was among three people killed when a Cirrus SR22T aircraft crashed near an elementary school.

Brett James, best known for hits like “Jesus, Take the Wheel” for Carrie Underwood and “I Hold On” for Dierks Bentley, was a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and one of the most celebrated figures in country music.

The FAA and NTSB are INVESTIGATING the cause of the crash. Fans and fellow artists are paying TRIBUTE to a man whose lyrics touched millions worldwide.
