This is a quick instructional video on how to change the motor oil and filter in your BMW i8. One subscriber said that his dealer wanted to charge $350 USD for an oil change. What if I told you that you can do it for approximately $75? Follow these steps to change the oil yourself and reset the oil life monitor.
My 2015 BMW i8 required 0W-30 oil, but please check with your BMW dealer's parts department to see if you need 0W-30 or 0W-20 oil, as recommendations changed midway through the 2015 Model Year. Some online parts web sites may say that some oil is not recommended for your car, when in fact, it is. And, it appears BMW did this to increase fuel mileage. I will still run 0W-30 or 5W-30 as this is approved for the BMW i8 according to my user manual.
Please accept my apologies for the brightness in my video, as I'm using a new camera and not used to it's settings. The lighting, focus and audio were definitely a shortcoming and this was corrected in future videos on my channel.
Please check out Heidi and Franny's BMW i8 Oil Change video on how to complete this process as well: • BMW i8 Oil Change COMPLETE PROCESS!
