Direct Drive Motor Cogging ? Forget the marketing bulls*|}≠ !

Описание к видео Direct Drive Motor Cogging ? Forget the marketing bulls*|}≠ !

Technically motor cogging would show most at slower speeds. So I pitched down the turntable by -50%, the 400Hz tone comes back at 196.3Hz.
Also cogging must be periodical and you can reveal it by stacking two identical signals. That's what I did here:

Left Channel is the pure recording of the 400Hz track off my Nakamichi Calibration record, right channel is the same recording but reversed. Both are then played together.

You hear anything ?
Me neither. Only thing you can hear (and see from the Goniometer) is slight aperiodical phasing, which is exactly as expected. That's the ever so slight analog speed deviation which not only comes from playback but also from the cutting lathe (and maybe even a feeding tape recorder at the cutting stage).

So stop making any fuss about motor cogging with your Technics decks.
