Описание к видео Vermont residents deal with challenges brought by drought

Local communities across Vermont have been impacted by recent dry weather. Water levels remained low across the state all summer, and at Tweed River, there are sections that are totally dried up.

Pittsfield residents who live along Tweed River said it used to be deep enough to swim in. However, this September, there is not enough water to swim anymore. One resident, Edward Herson, explained that the section of the river that runs behind his house used to go over his head. Now, the water is only up to his ankles.

"Because of the lack of rain, it didn't get deep," Herson said.

Swimming isn't possible anymore for both people and pets. Other town residents said they used to regularly bring their dogs to the river to cool off but water levels are too low now.

"I've noticed that our swimming hole is getting a little shallow. Doesn't get them completely wet anymore which is getting concerning," said Annabelle Dally, a Pittsfield local.

At some parts of the river, you can still see water flowing but in other areas, there is no water at all. Residents have also observed their gardens and lawns struggling from the dry weather. These conditions have made it difficult for locals who depend on wells for water as some people in the community have shared that their wells have dried up.
