The Sheep Tank Mine--Kofa Wilderness, Arizona

Описание к видео The Sheep Tank Mine--Kofa Wilderness, Arizona

The Sheep Tank Mine is worthy of exploration. The main shaft of the mine extends some 1450 feet underground, with a number of lateral shafts extending from it. It was primarily a gold/silver/copper mine, which was located in the early 1900's, but was not worked until the mid-1920's. There was a cyanide mill on site. Obviously there were numerous buildings on site as well.

This was a difficult trip for me. We drove in offroad over 25 miles, and the last 9 miles were quite difficult. Normally it wouldn't have bothered me so much, but I had had a major operation on my shoulder just four months previously, and believe me, by the time we were finished coming back out I was finished. My arm and shoulder pained me for an entire week afterward. While at the mine site, I was distracted, and I even forgot my flashlight (I was hoping someone had lost theirs at the mine I guess). Frankly I just wasn't at the top of my game.

But the mine is worthy of the the trip, and I hope this video encourages someone elso to take their turn and do the place justice.
