Here's a video giving you a summary of the story of Baldur's Gate 1. Baldur's Gate 1 came out in 1998! Baldur's Gate 2 in 2000. Although you don't have to know the stories of the two previous games, Larian Studios has announced that BG3 will touch upon BG1 & BG2 in meaningful ways!
