Super Flood: The Night the AFL Changed Forever

Not only were Essendon undefeated coming into their Round 21 match against the Western Bulldogs in 2000, they had been scoring at a phenomenal rate throughout the season.

To combat the Bombers firepower, Bulldogs coach Terry Wallace devised the now infamous 'Super Flood'. Not only did the tactic manage to end Essendon's perfect season, it also marked a transition point for the game of Australian Football, shaping AFL tactics into what they are today.
