Prehistory of Japan (Paleolithic, Jōmon and Yayoi periods)

Описание к видео Prehistory of Japan (Paleolithic, Jōmon and Yayoi periods)

In this episode I will talk about the first human habitation in the Japanese archipelago during the Paleolithic period, and how the Japanese Paleolithic is unique in that it incorporates one of the earliest known sets of ground stone and polished stone tools in the world.

After that I will cover the Jōmon period, when Japan was inhabited by a hunter-gatherer culture that reached a considerable degree of sedentism and cultural complexity. The final perioad of which I will speak is the Yayoi period, which covers the Neolithic and the Bronze Age in Japan. The written history of Japan began with the first written records about them from Chinese sources in 57 AD, and the Kofun period, when most of Japan gradually unified under a single kingdom.
