Officials confirmed the coordinated effort to rescue Fazia Sito from Gaza, where she had been held captive.

Fazia is part of the Yazidi religious minority, which suffered a brutal campaign in 2014.

Over 5,000 Yazidis were killed, and thousands more were kidnapped, in what the United Nations has recognized as genocide.

Silwan Sinjeri, chief of staff for Iraq's foreign minister, revealed that freeing Fazia took over four months.
