Shaniwar Wada, one of Pune's most iconic historical sites, stands as a symbol of the grand Maratha Empire. Built by Bajirao I in 1732, this majestic fort was once the seat of the Peshwas. However, it is not only known for its rich history but also for the eerie ghost stories that surround it!

🚆 Nearest Railway Station: Pune Junction (approx. 3 km)
✈️ Nearest Airport: Pune International Airport (approx. 12 km)
🚌 Local Transport: You can reach Shaniwar Wada via auto-rickshaws, cabs, or city buses from any part of Pune.

Indian Visitors: ₹20 per person
Foreign Visitors: ₹300 per person
Light & Sound Show Ticket: ₹50 per person

Timings:
Open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
Light & Sound Show: 7:15 PM (Marathi) & 8:15 PM (English)

🏰 History of Shaniwar Wada
Shaniwar Wada was built in 1732 as the residence of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. It served as a political and military stronghold until it was largely destroyed by a massive fire in 1828. Despite this, its grand gates, strong walls, and the remains of its exquisite halls still stand as a testament to Maratha architecture.

However, Shaniwar Wada is also known for its paranormal activity. Many believe that the ghost of Narayanrao Peshwa, who was brutally murdered here, still haunts the fort. His last words, "Kaka, mala vachva!" (Uncle, save me!), are said to be heard on full moon nights!
