Gender & Culture in the Solomon Islands

This 30-minute documentary captures the experiences of six local gender advocates in dealing with the challenges and opportunities that local cultures present in working towards gender equality in Solomon Islands. Interviewees were participants in a two day workshop held in Honiara, Solomon Islands in February 2012. The workshop brought together both male and female church and NGO staff and invited them to share experiences and learnings from their work on gender equality.

Both local and international community development practitioners may find participants' insights into the barriers they encounter and the strategies they use to overcome challenges to be useful in informing their work.
