Fennec Fox Introduction (English)
The fennec fox (Vulpes zerda) is one of the smallest fox species in the world, native to the deserts of North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Its most distinctive feature is its oversized ears, which help dissipate heat and detect prey underground.
Fennec foxes are well adapted to desert life. Their furry footpads protect them from hot sand, and they are mostly nocturnal, resting in burrows during the day. They are omnivores, feeding on insects, small animals, and plants. Curious and alert, they are often called “the desert elf.”
