It had been a few months since my last flight and I had been very eager about this trip for a while. I was looking forward to travelling back to the Seattle area, where I had visited twice in the past two years. Both times I flew Alaska Airlines and had two great experiences. I actually almost ended up flying them again, but then I decided I wanted to change it up some. It also helped my decision when Delta had the cheapest fares out of all the other airlines I searched. Considering I hadn't flown Delta since 2016 (and since both flights were pretty short), I was excited to experience Delta on domestic long haul service. This was my first flight on my way to Seattle with a layover in Los Angeles. Everything from getting to the airport all the way to getting on the plane went smooth as usual. My reservation was in Delta's Main Cabin (Economy) and I boarded in their Main 2 group. I then boarded using their mobile app which I don't do often either, but it was easier. My seat was 23F and my seat was in good condition. The cabin was fairly clean and the blue mood lighting made for a nice, relaxing setting. Not long after, it was time to pushback from the gate. We pushed back, the safety video came on, the engines started up, and the flaps were extended. Everything seemed normal until the captain made an announcement that a caution light had come on in the cockpit. Next thing I noticed was that the flaps were retracted and the captain announced we would have to taxi back to the gate so maintenance could check the issue and fix it. The issue was apparently with the fuel pump and initially they had announced the delay would be at least two hours. This meant we would have to all deplane and we would all likely miss our connections. As soon after that announcement was made, they came on and said the problem had been fixed and we would be pushing back again soon. After being delayed an hour and a half, we finally pushed back one more time, thankfully for good. We then took off and began our four-hour journey to Los Angeles. For the most part, other than the delay, the flight was typical and uneventful. It was a smooth ride the whole way to LAX. Once we had been cruising for a while, the flight attendants began their in-flight service. They served complimentary biscoff cookies and beverages (I chose coffee). Delta serves Starbucks Pike Place Roast blend on all of their flights, which is one of my favorites and also fitting since I was headed that way. Free shows were available in-flight, but unfortunately my IFE screen stopped working mid-flight and never came back on. This also meant I was only able to use their free flight tracker for about half of the flight until it went out.. So that was also a bummer. Shortly before we began our descent, the flight attendants came through one last time offering complimentary water to all passengers. That was a nice touch. About 30 minutes later we arrived in Los Angeles. I only had about 30 minutes to make my next flight to Seattle and considering I had to switch terminals which required taking a shuttle bus, you could imagine I was rushing quite a bit which is why in my next trip report, you may notice the lack of an intro. While the delay was unfortunate and a slight inconvenience, I was very thankful to have just enough time to make my connection. Also, I must say Delta's crew did their best to help and accommodate us during the delay by keeping us informed about the status of the issue and our connections. They also offered complimentary refreshments during the delay which was a nice touch. Other than the delay and the issue with my IFE screen, I enjoyed my flight on Delta.
