In 2020, after considerable prerelease anticipation, Microsoft Flight Simulator enthusiasts embraced a wholly new release—Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020—the first new version of the product since 2006. With an interval of 14 years between offerings, it’s not unreasonable to expect that the new version would represent quite a leap forward. Even so, it’s fair to say that Flight Simulator not only provided a completely different simulation experience, but it has also created a new paradigm for cloud-enabled experiences for users as well as developers.
