Amidst the raging controversies around the film ‘Padmavati’, a new issue has crept in. The Jayas village of Uttar Pradesh, where Padmavati was born, is demanding royalty on Padmavati.
The chairperson of Malik Mohammad Jayasi Foundation, Shakil Jayasi said if a film is being made on Padmavati, then royalty is the right of the inhabitants of Jayas and if the same is not being complied with then they will knock on the doors of court and also move Supreme Court if needed.
This small town of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh is in headlines because Mohammad Malik Jayasi, who wrote the poem ‘Padmavat’, is said to be its resident.
