1. Increased Sponsorship Cost (Immigration Skills Charge)
From 16 December 2025, the cost for UK employers to sponsor a worker under routes such as the Skilled Worker visa will increase by about 32 %.

This means employers may be more selective in choosing candidates or may complete sponsorships before the raise.

For Indian aspirants: ensure your job offer and sponsorship are strong because employer cost rises may discourage less-critical hires.

2. Stricter Skill & Salary Thresholds Already in Force
Many changes took effect from 22 July 2025 (but are still highly relevant).

The skill threshold for the Skilled Worker visa has been raised to RQF Level 6 (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) for new roles.

Salary thresholds have been significantly increased (e.g., general floor ≈ £41,700 for many new applicants) after 22 July.

If you’re planning to apply, make sure your job offer meets the new qualification and salary criteria.

3. Revised Work Routes and Eligibility for Some Occupations

For the Temporary Work – Seasonal Worker route: as of 14 October 2025, you can work no more than 6 months in any rolling 10-month period.

Some medium-skill jobs (below RQF 6) are no longer eligible for sponsorship under Skilled Worker, unless they’re on the “Temporary Shortage List”.

For Indian aspirants: double check if your role is still eligible or if you’re applying under an older transitional rule.

4. Fees & Process Updates

The Home Office revised fees for many immigration services as of 21 October 2025.

Employers need to review their sponsorship obligations carefully given rising costs and stricter rules.

5. General Immigration Policy Shift
The UK’s 2025 White Paper “Immigration White Paper: Restoring Control over the Immigration System” sets the backdrop: aiming to reduce net migration and increase standards for work routes.
