How did Modern SpongeBob lose its Christmas spirit?

Christmas Who has been one of my main holiday traditions ever since the episode premiered when I was a kid. What makes the special so impactful is how well it understands how to tell a proper Christmas story with its central character arc revolving around learning the ideals of generosity and goodwill.

Since SpongeBob is such a core part of my Christmas season, I was wondering if the other SpongeBob Christmas specials are as impactful as the first one.

Now I was sure that the later SpongeBob Christmas specials wouldn't live up entirely to the original season 2 special but the other three specials (especially the latter two) are pretty mediocre. Let's take a look at all four SpongeBob Christmas specials and figure out what went wrong.
